So… they(or actually just Rodney) learned Gun Fu from Duck Hunt and hand-to-hand fighting from Battle Toads. Which game taught them to make puns?
The puns have their origin more than likely because of I don’t know.. I want to say comic titles or archies or something. There’s some really pun ish writing there. Although I fell like lyrics and what not played their part in that too!
If I recall correctly, Battletoads had a lot of groin punching.
Gigantic fits permanently morphed Rodney’s hands to big size for all time. As did a boxing comic I did!! Fun fact!
Man, reading this stuff is reminding me of my own artistic exploits. Believe it or not, there was a time when I was slightly better than fucking terrible at drawing. I had a little comic that I made for a few people in middle school, mostly riddled with DBZ like fights (my characters were pseudo-anime crap) and retarded amounts of inside jokes. I never really learned anything about perspective though, so most of my shots were always from the same angle, and I never could draw a decent hand… still, it had a few readers, and it was fun.
I am 100% convinced we all have adventures and characters, whole worlds, living in us!! Will we let them make it to reality?! Some do some don’t! Sometime let your worlds come to life. I bet they’ll surprise and reward you!
It’s fascinating that you broke out of the box because of comics based upon side-scrollers. That’s just awesome.
It’s funny isn’t it? Very mechanical.. There were some pages that made use of a giant single page layout that nearly perfectly aped a small chunk of the strategy guide. Those 6 panel grids bit the dust thanks to those strategy guides
I guess you could say…
*wears cool CSI shades*
You play by the book!
What you did there.
We can see it.
Also I’m glad to be back after 3 weeks of no internets (OH TEH AGONY!!1!). Great cliffhanger on the moon there Mr Raven.
ha ha. Nice hell tutor. Nice!!
Also zimnic, glad to have you back!! Sorry for the cliff hanger. I hate it myself!! But I hope you guys are enjoying it!
Now I’m imagining how much more fun Symphony Of The Night would be with Rodney and Dornail as familiars instead of that useless skull head thing and the lame demon dude with the douchebag voice you only use to press a button. Everything else about that game is awesome, but those familiars are silly.
I totally want Alucard to have a little friend with HUGE PUNCHING HANDS!
I remember very little of the castlevania comic. Now that I think I think it predated the battle toads comic. Oh… and get this.. Rodney killed Dracula by whipping him through the heart. A fucking whip.. through the heart. Classic.
Oh shit. I remember those layouts. I still own a couple of issues where they illustrated guides that way; always pasted little marked icons to show where the powerups were.
What’s funny too is that those guides… they didn’t REALLY help that much!! It’s like.. they were just made to burn through pages. But imagine how hard they were to make pre photoshop!! They had to stitch pictures together!! Anyway it changed my life forever. ha ha. Especially since battletoads scrolled vertical AND horizontal.
I dunno if yer gonna see this any time soon, Raven, but I just got back from Gamescom gere in germany and I gotta tell ya…
The character with the pistols in The Darkness 2 looks a helluva lot based on your villain with the pistols and the coffin from a couple of chapters back (forgot the bugger’s name)
Jackie Estecado of the darkness!!! ha ha. Yes. I can see the similarity. You know they are both hitmen, but jackie worked for the mob and leaned heavy on his darkness power. I was a quasi fan of the darkness and TopCow comics in general. It’s probably an influence. Although I maintain Silencio’s real inspirations are EL from El Mariachi first..and Grave from Gungrave second (Grave is based on EL so it makes sense).
P.S. I am jealous you got to go to games com!!
P.P.S. I heard Darkness the video games are quite good!
